Meet, Nikki!
Nikki is the Director and Principal Occupational Therapist of Empowering Minds OT.
Nikki is a friendly and caring Mental Health Occupational Therapist with 10 years of experience working with young people and families. She has worked in various sectors, including public and private, with young people with a range of different mental health issues. She has extensive experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)of all ages.
Nikki has a particular interest in supporting teenagers & young adults with Autism and ADHD, who have been diganosed later in life. Regardless of diagnosis or not, Nikki enjoys working with teens and young adults so they can understand themselves better, have improved relationships with those around them, learn different skills and strategies to make daily life easier and work towards goals that are meaningful for them.
Nikki is an endorsed Mental Health Occupational Therapist with Medicare. She has undergone various training within the mental health field of Occupational Therapy, including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family Therapy, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Circle of Security, Sensory Modulation and Animal-Assisted Therapy.
Meet, Ollie!
Ollie is a friendly and gentle chocolate Labradoodle. He is an accredited Therapy Dog and has received his training through Therapy Dogs Australia.
Ollie enjoys greeting clients in the waiting room and sitting at their feet during therapy sessions. He enjoys being around people, showing off his tricks and getting lots of pats!
Ollie works alongside Nikki on most Fridays.
